SLCN Screening for your Setting
Screening your Nursery and/or Reception children's communication can help you to quickly identify SLCN and start to support children’s communication and learning appropriately.
Therapist-led screening
from £350
This package involves:
Screening aims to identify children in need of support, it is not a full detailed assessment.
Typically we would screen a whole year group, most often your Reception intake, although you could choose to screen other years too if there are concerns about a specific cohort.
Screening your children for speech and language needs helps you:
- identify what interventions are needed
- identify staff training needs
- make appropriate referrals
At the end of screening, you will receive brief notes about each child, indicating any concerns and recommendations. I can also suggest where a child might fit into your existing intervention groups, or suggest which interventions to focus on to meet the needs of a year group. If you need support with setting up specific interventions and training your staff to deliver these, this can be arranged separately.

1 day screening (I can see approximately 12 -15 children in a day) £350

Try a 'Screening+' package
The 'Screening+' package gives you a service to suit you all year around.
These packages are most likely to be suitable for smaller schools or schools that have a specific group of children who may fall outside NHS criteria but still need support, e.g. some KS2 children
Screening + packages are designed to become cheaper per day as you buy more time
Screening+ termly
- 2 days screening in Autumn term plus 1 day a term across the year for you to use flexibly for your setting - e.g. assessments, target-setting and programmes, discussion with your SENCO, training for TAs, support with EHCP applications
- 5 days SALT time in total across the year
Cost: £1750 (equivalent to £350 per day, to be paid at the start of the year)
Screening + half-termly
- 2 days screening in Autumn term, plus 1 day a half-term for you to use flexibly for your setting e.g. assessments, target-setting, programmes, discussion with your SENCO, training for TAs, support with EHCP applications
- 8 days SALT time in total across the year
Cost: £2800 (equivalent to £350 per day, to be paid at the start of the school year)
